Audierne Bay
From one point to another, a magnificent natural area
When the clouds disappear over Audierne Bay, you’ll be treated to the brilliant image of the tall Eckmühl lighthouse on the Pointe Saint-Pierre in Penmarch, as well as the old lighthouse and the semaphore, all set against a backdrop of light blue sky.
From the Pointe du Raz to the Pointe de Penmarch, Audierne Bay offers an exceptional 100 % natural environment, with sand dunes stretching out over 10 km of shoreline.
There is an incredibly rich fauna and flora, along with highly varied landscapes. These include pebble beaches, fine sandy beaches next to dunes, marshes and ponds, cliffs that get taller as they get closer to the Pointe du Raz, the Ria du Goyen whose outline is marked by the tides, and the lively port of Audierne with its historic town centre.
Places to explore include the Dune de Treffiagat which spans 4 km, the Maison de la Baie d’Audierne (Audierne Bay Visitor Centre) in Tréguénnec, Saint-Vio and its adorable chapel (the smallest in the Bigouden region), and the bird observatory by the pond with 97 species to discover.
